This post is part of a bi-weekly series in which we get to know Sifties.
Lauren Shapiro is an account executive who has been with Sift Science for six months. If she could be any animal, she would be a cat because she feels an affinity to their temperament – she only wants attention when it’s on her terms.
What are 5 things that make you happy?
- My pets (cat and dog)
- My fiancé
- TV (literally everything, from Seinfeld to 30 Rock to Ozark)
- Mac n cheese – any type, even Kraft
- Traveling
What superpower would you want to have and why?
I’m not sure what the superpower is called, but I’d want to be able to freeze time but still move around in it, like the movie Click with Adam Sandler. If my alarm clock goes off, I can freeze time and keep sleeping. I don’t know if that would mean that I age faster?
What’s the best vacation you ever had?
I went to Kenya and Tanzania three years ago with my dad. We go on father-daughter trips every so often. I really love animals, and we got to go on a safari!
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I love McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish. I’m a closeted Filet-O-Fish eater because people would judge me. I’ll most often eat them in secret.
You studied electrical engineering in college. Tell me about that!
I’ve always been really good at math and science, so studying engineering made sense. I’m also dyslexic, so I decided to pursue one of my strengths.
Towards the end of college, I realized that I didn’t want to sit in a lab all day every day, so I went into technical hardware sales to the aerospace and defense industry. I really felt like I applied my degree to my career. When I wanted a change after that, I wanted to use my skills I’d developed in my previous position…which led me to Sift Science!
